Supporting good causes by saving energy
The amount of your inclusive rent that is allocated to utility charges is calculated based on previous household expenditure and industry estimates.
If your household's annual utility cost is less than the budget amount we will donate a proportion of the saving made to one of our chosen charities. (If your annual utility cost is more than the budget amount you will not pay any more.)
To help your household save energy we have designed the properties with many energy-saving features such as insulation of the floors, walls and ceilings; energy-efficient boilers; economically flushing toilets; energy-saving light bulbs, and so on. Here are some ways in which you can help to save energy and in doing so, help good causes:
- Turn your central heating down by 1 degree
- Boil only the water you need and not a full kettle
- Put lids on pans when cooking
- Turn off lights when leaving a room
- Turn off your tap when cleaning your teeth
- Only use your washing machine when you have a full load
- Report a dripping tap
